Beiijing, China (April 4 - 10, 2008)

Both Dr Marc Daniel GUTEKUNST and Murray SANFORD were invited as Observers, and Amadou DIA BA as an ANOCA delegate to attend ANOC’s 16th General Assembly held in Beijing, China.

During the ANOC General Assembly, the ATLANTA DITC delegation met with the IOC YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES (YOG) Director, and the Program Manager of the 2009 Copenhengue Olympic Congress.  The ATLANTA DITC was invited to become an active participant of the 2009 Olympic Congress.

In addition to a packed General Assembly program, the ATLANTA DITC delegation met with 21 IOC Members, 41 Presidents and/or Secretary Generals of African Olympic Committees (ANOCA), 6 Presidents and/or Secretary Generals of European Olympic Committees (EOC), 6 Presidents and/or Secretary Generals of Asian Olympic Committees (OCA), and 19 Presidents and/or Secretary Generals of Pan American Olympic Committees (PASO), 4 Presidents of International Sports Federations (Modern Pentathlon (UIPM), Handball (IHF), Softball (ISF), and Baseball (IBAF)), the President of the African Athletics Confederation (CAA), and one potential international corporate sponsor for the ATLANTA DITC.

Several of the National Olympic Committees representatives the ATLANTA DITC delegation met with, made commitments to sending athletes to the ATLANTA DITC in preparation of the 2008 Beijing Games.  Several international sports federations further indicated their interest in hosting in
DeKalb County their Annual Conferences and/or Congress in partnership with the ATLANTA DITC, as well as hosting international competitions and/or world cups.  A meeting with IAAF's and CAA's Marketing Consultant was held, to discuss the CAA and ATLANTA DITC co-hosting (per the CAA-DITC Agreement signed in 2003) the next AFRICA-USA Athletics Meet to be held in Africa.

Again the quality and breadth of meetings held during the ANOC General Assembly, demonstrated the most unique position the ATLANTA DITC has achieved in less than 6 years within the Olympic family and International Sports Federations.
