Berlin, Germany (August 14, 2007)
On the heels of winning USOC’s bid to host the 2007 US Modern Pentathlon Nationals, four representatives of the Bethany Peace Point Equestrian Foundation, Inc. (BPEF) and one Trustee of Bethany College came to Atlanta on July 11, 2007 to meet the DITC principals and DeKalb County representatives. At that time DITC and BPEF agreed to join forces and submit a bid to the International Modern Pentathlon Federation (UIPM) to host in Atlanta the Modern Pentathlon World Cup II.
The USOC fully endorsed the bid that was submitted by BPEF to the UIPM Executive Board. The UIPM Board met during the august World Championships in Berlin, and they selected the DITC–BPEF bid to host in Atlanta the Modern Pentathlon World Cup II (March 19-22, 2009). About 200 competitors from around the world are expected to participate in this World Cup II.
UIPM has already officially and publicly announced that the World Cup II will be hosted in Atlanta. The potential competition venues for the 2009 World Cup II will include Agnes Scott College (for the shooting, fencing, and swimming events) and DeKalb County's Little Creek Horse Farm (for the 300m cross country run and equestrian jump events).
On September 10, 2007, Dr. Joachim SACKSEN came back to Atlanta to meet DeKalb County Parks & Recreation representatives to discuss and review plans to hosting 2 events (horse jumping and the 3000m run) of the Modern Pentathlon World Cup II at DeKalb County Parks & Recreation's Little Creek Horse Farm.
