ATLANTA 1996 :: The Legacy Institution of the Atlanta 1996 Centennial Olympic Games

On August 18, 2008 Churandy MARTINA runs at 10:47 a.m. round 1 heat 7 and qualifies for the next round with a time of 20.78.

Again on the 18^th that evening at 08:19 p.m. he runs round 2 heat 3 and again qualifies for the next round with a time 20.42.

On August 19 at around 09:25 p.m. Churandy will run in the Semifinal 1 finishes 1^st and brakes a new National Record with a time of 20.11.

On August 20 Churandy MARTINA finishes 2^nd  

A protest by US is filled (well beyond the legal approved 30 minutes after the end of a race) for the DQ of Wallace SPEARMAN. This protest to IAAF in turn leads to the DQ of Churandy MARTINA. Let us wait for the appeals process to run its course. If timely protest procedures were not respected, let us hope that Churandy MARTINA will regain his rightfully deserved 2^nd place.
